SC16IS741 je slave I²C- bus/SPI jednokanálový UART.
Poskytuje prenosovú rýchlosť až do 5 Mbit/s a to pri nízkom odbere v aktívnom a spiacom režime. Môže sa jednať o nástupcu obľúbenej 16C450.

SC16IS741 obsahuje sadu interných registrov spätne kompatibilných s populárnou 16C450. Toto uľahčuje programovanie a portovanie existujúcich aplikácií..

SC16IS741 umožňuje automatické hardérové a softwérové riadenie toku dát (flow control), automatickú podporu pre linku RS-485 softwérový reset.
Čip je oblečený do TSSOP16 púzdra.
