Spoločnosť Altera Corporation dodáva k FPGA čipom Cyclone® IV GX vývojový kit - Cyclone IV GX Transceiver Starter Kit, ktorý za 395,- USD obsahuje kompletené HW a SW prostredie, čip EP4CGX15, 60x I/O, 12x clk a LCD displej.

S kitom je možné :

• navrhovať cenovo výhodné FPGA aplikácie
  
• merať spotrebu energie FPGA
  
• testovať kvalitu signálov tranceivera FPGA (až do 2.5Gbps)
  
• navrhovať aplikácie využívajúce zbernicu PCI Express 1.0 (endpoint x1 lane ~250 MBytes per second transfer rate).

SW časť kitu je potrebné stiahnúť z webu Altery (CD ani DVD Altera už nebude dávať ako súčasť kitov! ).
Ide o nástroj Quartus II
Čipy Cyclone IV GX sú podporované v oboch Subscription Edition a voľnej Web Edition verzii programu.
